A Rant of ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise

The franchise would have benefited from a little foresight and faith.

Everyone agrees the third film was baws. The fourth one would have probably been more succesful if it had been placed after the first, whilst ‘At world’s end’ would have still been as successful as it already is.

The story of the pirates would have made more sense too. For example, where was blackbeard when all the pirates were being called together. Nobody thought to ask the captain with a remote control for his boat to go and fight the british fleet?

People would also not have got bored so quickly over Bloom and Knightley’s character.

The fourth film also killed off two ggod characters. Best thing about the fourth film was Ian McShane as Blackbeard. And Geoffrey Rush’s character may as well be dead cos’ he has one leg!

He is supposed to counter Jack Sparrow, but if he can’t do half the thing’s Jack can he’s going to end up the butt-end of every one-liner and most stunts will involve just jack sparrow. However saying that, these films have a nasty habit of bring characters back from the dead or doing the impossible. Needless to say they’ll be reading this or realise what they’ve done and go back and change everything in the next two films.

Judging a Bond by It’s Theme

Adele - Skyfall (007 Theme)

The teaser trailers over the months for the up and coming Skyfall, have shown the grittiest, most action packed and sexiest sequences yet to be seen in a Bond film. With the arrival of the new Q, an all-star cast with the addition of Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes and a lot to make up for to all the proles who regarded Quantum of Solace as a let down – on a side note I don’t consider the film to be a bond film – just a small and fitting conclusion to Casino Royale (2005) This film has win written all over it. And somehow, Adele may just be the thing that ruins this potentially awesome film. To justify this, it would be beneficial for everyone if I explained the source of my theory.  Continue reading
